The people who need the most help in a supermarket are usually the ones the app was never designed for.I designed HK Supermarket AR for the elderly woman who can’t read the signs. The tourist who doesn’t speak the language. The first-time shopper who doesn’t know which floor the fish is on. These aren’t edge cases. They’re the majority of people who feel lost every single time they walk in.The technology — AR navigation, GPS-independent indoor positioning, one-tap staff assistance — exists. The problem was that nobody had pointed it at the right people. So I did. And I added an SOS button. Because sometimes you don’t need a product recommendation. You need a person, right now. A UX and AR navigation app. Pratt Institute, 2024.Built for: elderly shoppers, foreign tourists, first-time visitors.Core features: AR path overlay · indoor positioning · one-tap staff · SOS emergency mode. The design question wasn’t “how does this work?” It was “who does this work for?”
